It is just after 10 a.m. in Arizona, and Diamondbacks executive vice president Nona Lee has already been working for hours. On this morning, Lee is taking calls and meetings from home — as she still does occasionally in the COVID-19 world — but she’ll head to the stadium in a few hours because it’s important.

It’s Pride Night for Arizona, and Lee, who leads the team’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, can’t wait for the pregame festivities. She has just finished drafting a mammoth, 18-month plan for “D-backs for Change,” the organization’s community and business initiative that aims to promote inclusion. Lee is a founding council member and sometime soon will pitch this plan. She often works long nights and weekends to get things done because her real job — the organization’s chief legal officer — is pretty time-consuming too.
